From the Archives: First Haliburton Gold Stocked

This article “100 Year Old Man Stocks Haliburton Strain Lake Trout” was featured in the April 2000 issue of The Outdoorsman. The article reads:

The first Haliburton strain of lake trout which were raised at the Haliburton Highlands Outdoors Association Hatchery have been stocked into some Highlands lakes. The first few fish were put into Miskwabi Lake on April 13 by Tom Cox, who celebrated his 100th birthday less than two weeks earlier, on April 1. A millennium project, which started with the collection of lake trout eggs from Halls Lake fish in October of 1998, came to a successful conclusion.

The Outdoorsman is the quarterly newsletter of the Haliburton Highlands Outdoors Association.
